FAQs

Why are we at IHR raising money for AFSP?

At IHR we do our best to give back to the community and use our platform to help raise awareness on topics we feel passionate about . Mental Health is a vital topic that our Community and Nation need to better understand so that we can help those in need. Partnering with organizations that focus on Mental Health to provide resources for those struggling, or resources for those with loved ones who are struggling, is something we at IHR fully believe in. We want to do what we can to help in any way, so if using our platform to help spread awareness and raise money is of help in any way, we are happy to do it!

What if I need help?

First off, we at IHR are here for you. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. There are many resources available for you. You are not alone. Go to this website for the best resources:

How can I donate?

By pre-registering for our upcoming April 26th Block Party you are helping donate to AFSP: Indiana Chapter because part of each ticket goes towards our 2025 donation to them!
The AFSP accepts direct donations if you prefer to do it that way to bypass going through IHR. The money is all going to the same place. To go directly to them for your donation, go here.

How can the donations help?

Your money goes directly to our local community here in Indiana. These funds allow AFSP to provide local Suicide Prevention outreach through their 20 educational programs, ensure continued support for those affected by the loss of a loved one to suicide through AFSP’s Loss and Healing programs, help fund research grants that will help doctors and scientists better understand suicide and help to prevent it, and also advocate for mental health legislation on the local level through State legislation.

How can I help someone in need?

One of the best ways to help someone asking for help is to listen. Follow these steps:

  1. Talk to them in private.

  2. Listen to their story

  3. Tell them you care about them

  4. Ask directly if they are thinking about suicide

  5. Encourage them to seek treatment or contact their doctor or therapist

  6. Avoid debating the value of life, minimizing their problems or giving advice

Assume you are the ONLY one they’re reaching out to!
You may call call or text 988 for the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

How will my donation get to AFSP?

We are collecting donations directly through our IHR website during the month of April and will donate every penny of it to the Indiana Chapter of AFSP at the end of the month in one large check. You will receive a donation receipt in your e-mail once you donate. We are also selling Limited Edition IHR Suicide Awareness stickers for $10 each, with all proceeds going towards the donation at the end of April.

Testimonial by Jayden Day

“Every person you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always.”

Jayden is both an IndyHoodRats customer and Staff Member who has been inspirational to many in the automotive community. As a survivor of a suicide attempt, he is trying to spread awareness about the mental health struggles many face, and let people know they are not alone. Below, in his own words, is his story:
“Growing up, I always believed my purpose was to change the world, no matter how small the impact. Over time, I’ve learned that making a difference doesn’t always mean creating massive change, it’s about the small moments, the conversations that matter, and the causes that touch lives. Advocating for suicide awareness has been a cause close to my heart, and I’m proud to continue that mission this year. Mental health matters, and by continuing to spread awareness, we can break the stigma and remind others that it’s okay to not be okay, but it’s not okay to stay that way.

I’m also honored to shine a light on other meaningful causes as the Charity Outreach Ambassador for IndyHoodRats. This role gives me the opportunity to connect with others, share stories, and support charities that truly make an impact. Every day, I’m grateful to still be here. The new connections, unforgettable memories, and the chance to live out my purpose have made life worth it.”
